As part of the first digital media workshop on sound my class will participate in "Your Voice as Art" for "Through the Virtual Looking Glass", a connected set of international exhibitions in galleries in Boston and several countries outside the United States. This is an example of Mixed Reality art exhibition, including art in Second Life, a virtual 3D world. People can record and upload images, animation, and sounds into Second Life.

For the class I'm sponsoring a sound module that will be in one of the galleries. Sound modules are reactive pieces which will be loaded by voices in various languages representing the countries participating in the "Through the Virtual Looking Glass exhibit". They will reside on the gallery wall speaking up when someone walks by.
The actual exhibition kicks off on April 7, 2010, at UMass Boston’s Harbor Gallery and other international (and virtual) locations. Perhaps we’ll go as a field trip!
