Position Description: Arts Coordinator

Description: The role of the Arts Coordinator is to facilitate arts programming at the Art + Media House (AMH) in alignment with goals and objectives of the AMH, and to make opportunities available throughout LAYC/MMYC. The AMH provides youth with access to creative resources in an open and supportive environment; and facilitates opportunities for youth to foster leadership by developing their ability to creatively express ideas and communicate them with a wider audience. - Discover the power of their art. Programs at the AMH are growing, and we’re looking for a dynamic staff member who demonstrates a combination of 1) organization and resourcefulness, 2) aptitude for working with youth, and 3) the ability to foster youth development through the arts. Full-time 40-hours/week plus benefits

Areas of Responsibility
Art Coordination & Administration
ï‚§ Implement programmatic objectives for fiscal year
ï‚§ Develop, manage, and maintain communication with consultants, interns, and volunteers
ï‚§ Maintain Art program supply/materials budget
ï‚§ Develop methods of distribution and outlets for youth work

Art Instruction
ï‚§ Provide art Instruction in assigned program at AMH
ï‚§ Coordinate one AMH wide workshop or fieldtrip per session
ï‚§ Monitor progress of participants throughout the course
ï‚§ Integration of art programming with an LAYC/MMYC programs and/or community partner

AMH Programming & Youth Development
ï‚§ Plan Core Curriculum and facilitate youth development workshops
ï‚§ Plan and facilitate youth theme related workshops
ï‚§ Develop Advanced Opportunities for youth
ï‚§ Refer youth to Promotores as necessary
ï‚§ Alleviating program gaps outlined in strategic plan
ï‚§ Implement recruitment plan for AMH program

AMH Administrative & Operations
ï‚§ Assist in the completion of narrative reports for funders, and provide necessary data for grant purposes
ï‚§ Complete monthly reports
ï‚§ Attend weekly AMH staff meetings
ï‚§ Monitor AMH facility needs

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of relevant experience desired
- Highly motivated, organized and task-driven
- Experience working with youth
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
- Ability to manage projects independently
- Strong communication skills (writing and peer-to-peer communication)
- Ability to work and collaborate with others effectively
- Willingness and aptitude to acquire new skills and grow with organization
- Spanish fluency highly desired
