Guest Speakers, Instructors, and Workshop Facilitators Needed!
Youth from Umass-Boston’s Upward Bound program formed an action team focused on spreading the word about ecology and environmental justice by creating meaningful media for change. The youth plan to create video clips for a YouTube Channel, develop short audio clips for radio broadcast and podcasts, and create print materials that will spur action around environmental justice related to food, transportation, air and water quality, climate change, protecting natural resources, and housing. We need instructors, speakers, and facilitators to assist with development of media. The youth go on service-learning trips, take tours of rooftop gardens and companies working with clean energy, watch documentaries and read text about environmental justice, and learn about careers in the environmental field, such as sustainable architecture and transportation development and want to share their experiences and knowledge with others. The youth have access to hardware and software.
A small stipend may be available for facilitators and instructors who wish to contribute on a recurring basis.
If you are interested in working with the youth on a one-time or recurring basis, please contact Erica Pernell at erica.pernell@umb.edu or 617-287-5846.
