What FEATURES do we want on the site?

So the last time we met we spent a lot of time discussing how we envisioned the rymaec.org site functioning. We've tried to capture below the output of that meeting. Take some time to read it over and make comments. Are we missing anything? Any new insights? What long-term features do we want? Short-term? Have at it.

The main purpose of the site is to foster a youth community of media makers (to include video, radio, etc.), driven by the youth, observed by adults with their participation also. There can be a moderator, but not necessarily a censoring group or authority on what is or isn’t allowed.

There will be two areas:
Youth: to network, build/showcase a portfolio of work (functioning like a profile page on a social networking site, but professional), collaborate with other artists, find resources, learn about conferences/festivals/job openings. Ultimately, this should be a site for youth to connect with their peers rather than having to go through their adult advisers.

Adult Advisors/Educators: to share curriculum/resources, post events, request equipment donations, coordinate visiting teacher circuit. Ultimately, the adult/educator area would be of the "behind the scenes" variety.

Other ideas: The site could also serve to highlight a youth organization or student work on a semi-regular basis - complete with interviews, hosting of media, etc. with an opportunity for Q&A/comments in some form.

How do we drive folks to the site? Have events and post the clips from that event? For adults, seeing what their students are up to?

More and more I've been wondering how we can get classroom teachers to use existing youth-media models as a teaching tool.
