The Cloud Foundation’s Teen Curatorial Program gives young people from across Boston a setting in which to express their opinions on art, film, performance, and design, and to create artworks, exhibitions, and events that express their artistic vision and showcase an authentic teen perspective. The Visual Art, Film, Spoken Word, and Design Curators work with professional artist-educators to produce YouthFusion at Cloud Place - a series of spoken word performances, film screenings, and visual art exhibitions showcasing the work of high school students from Boston and around the world. Mentorship from artist-educators supports teen participants in pursuing higher education, developing their own studio and performance work, and making connections to Boston’s arts community.
The Teen Film Curators (a group of 8-10 Boston-area public high school students) meet weekly after school from September through May. The group drafts and disseminates calls for teen films, juries submitted works, and creates at least four hour-long programs of short films for screening at Cloud Place as part of YouthFusion. In addition, the Teen Film Curators conceptualize and produce group film projects, collaborate with the Spoken Word and Visual Art Curatorial Groups, engage in community partnerships, and experience independent films in a variety local of settings. Throughout the school year, the Teen Film Curators will participate in a series of local and international partnerships and collaborative projects with film programs from Boston to Paris.

The Cloud Foundation believes in the transformative power of art to enrich the lives of urban youth. We support innovative programs that build confidence, ambition, and hope in Boston’s young people through artistic creation and cross-cultural communication. At the heart of the Cloud Foundation’s philanthropic model is Cloud Place—a professional studio, media, and performance space for teen artists in Copley Square, Boston. Through Cloud Place, the Cloud Foundation partners with local organizations to build a strong, interconnected youth arts community, to encourage new interactions among diverse programs and neighborhoods, and to cultivate new audiences and advocates for arts.
